Can I use my own YouTube API key on Pro?
Yes. On Pro without a key you get up to 3 scans per day on our shared quota. Add your free YouTube Data API key in Settings to use your personal 10,000-unit daily quota and unlock up to 25 scans per day on our side.
How do I get a YouTube API key?
Go to console.cloud.google.com, create a project, enable the YouTube Data API v3, and generate an API key. It's free and takes about 5 minutes. We walk you through it step by step in your account settings once you upgrade.
What counts as a scan?
One scan = analysing one focal YouTube URL for similar uploads. You choose whether that URL is your own video (find copies) or a link you’re checking without claiming it as your original — we store that with the scan. We search YouTube and score each candidate for similarity. A channel scan counts as one scan per run.
What does the PDF evidence report include?
A professionally formatted report showing the focal video, all flagged matches with similarity scores broken down by title, description, tags, transcript, voice, thumbnail (when available), and metadata-vs-narration where captions exist, plus AI analysis of each match. If you ran a link-investigation scan (not claiming the focal URL as your own), the PDF states that clearly and adjusts disclaimer wording. Recommended next steps include how to file a copyright complaint with YouTube when appropriate.
What is the DMCA helper?
A Pro-only page that lists what to gather (your URLs, suspected copy URLs, evidence notes, and what YouTube’s form typically asks for) and lets you copy a blank notes template. We don’t fill in YouTube for you, don’t submit notices, and don’t store your text — you complete Google’s official complaint flow yourself. It isn’t legal advice.
